Herbert Walker, United States Army
Herb Walker served in the national army during 1918. He was training for only a short time when W.W.1 ended. Part of his time, he had the Spanish flu, which he survived, thankfully. (1,777 soldiers died due to the Spanish flu at camp Sherman, in Chillicothe, Ohio). After being discharged, he returned to the family farm. In 1921, he bought a retail dairy route, which he and his family operated in the area for years. In 1943, he and his family, opened Walker's Homemade Ice Cream store, an Ohio valley favorite for nearly 60 years.
