I was drafted and boarded a train in Wheeling WV to head to Chanute Airforce base (which is near Rantoul, IL) to take part in aircraft hydraulic machinist training. We all had some machinist training which is the reason we were sent to Chanute. When we finished the training we took a train to San Francisco where we would head to Korea. When we got on the boat we had 2 weeks at sea before we arrived at Kunsan Airforce base. When bombers and fighters would return from missions it was our responsibility to inspect, provide general maintenance and repair any issues with the hydraulic systems of the planes to get them ready to head back out.
