August 17th offers two great events

Saturday, Aug. 17 in Belmont County offers two great events.
The inaugural Ohio River Festival, sponsored by the Belmont County Soil and Water Conservation District, will be held at Powhatan Point Marina in Powhatan Point from 1-6 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will feature free canoeing, fishing demonstrations, boating safety, and displays on life under the waterline. Local vendors and food trucks will also be on site. There will be free t-shirts for the first 50 people, free Popsicles and popcorn! Raffles include a gift basket from Texas Roadhouse at the Highlands, a kayak, a wooden kayak paddle and much more! The Salt Fork Division of Watercraft will be providing the canoeing experience and Cabelas will be manning the fishing station. A Wine Tasting and Silent Auction will also take place that day from 7- 10 p.m. at the Belmont County Victorian Mansion Museum, 532 N. Chestnut St., Barnesville. This year's event will spotlight several wines from Vino di Piccin Winery in Lansing , Ohio. The event also includes a silent auction, appetizers, 50/50 drawing, door prizes, and of course a tour of the beautiful, 26-room Victorian mansion. A wine etiquette program will also be a part of the evening. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased from any board member or at the door the evening of the event.
