Belmont County Fair – A Family Tradition Since 1849

Are you ready for rides, food, family entertainment, live music, a car show, tractor and truck pulls, a rodeo, drag racing, livestock and horticultural displays? The 172nd Annual Belmont County Fair kicks off Sept. 6 and runs through Sept. 12 at the Belmont County Fairgrounds, 45420 Roscoe Rd., St. Clairsville.

Opening ceremonies begin at noon on Monday, Sept. 6, followed by the Junior Fair Royalty crowning at 1 pm. Junior livestock shows, competitions, and open class judging will take place Tuesday and Wednesday.

Daily entertainment includes the Zerbini Family Circus, Ryan Gothrup’s Mobile Glass Studios, Luau Logan’s The TroPIGal Revue, and Cracker Jack & Company. The Zerbini Family Circus began in the U.S. in 1992, going back over a century in France, Europe, and Africa. After coming to America in 1968, the family circus now travels over 8 months a year. The show, featuring aerial and balancing acts, and animal acts, changes every year.

Ryan Gothrup, an educator of glassblowing for over 16 years, brings the artistry and education of glass making beyond the studio letting viewers experience the lost art of glassblowing.

Luau Logan’s The TroPIGal Revue is the newest addition to the “Pork Chop Revue” that the family has been performing on numerous television specials, films and live venues since 1956. This family friendly revue features hilarious puppet characters, performing pigs, and goats.

Cracker Jack & Company strolling entertainment offers balloon twists, magic, juggling and plate spinning, puppets and comedy.

On Wednesday, Belmont’s Rafter M Rodeo will entertain at 6 pm, followed by Taylor Jo and the Copper Creek Band at 7 pm.

Thursday is Fair Field Days from 9am-1pm when area elementary school students get to explore the fair. The Junior Fair Livestock Sale begins at 1 pm. The sale order is rabbits, turkeys, ducks, broilers, lambs, and goats. At 5pm will be swine, fat steers, dairy feeders, heifer feeders, and steer feeders. Last year’s Junior Fair Livestock Sale earned a record $547,000 in sales.

KOI Drag Racing will begin practice at 5 pm with the competition to begin at 7pm.

Also at 7pm, the Hee Haw Variety Show takes the stage. This a non-profit organization hosts a variety of entertainers who donate their time and talent to raise money in the fight to cure cancer. The Mayhughs lost their daughter and sister, Melodie to pancreatic cancer 25 years ago. In honor of her love of country music, the family began putting on an annual show in her memory to raise cancer awareness and give back to the Barnesville area community.

Friday is Senior Citizen Day and anyone over age 62 with an ID will be admitted free until 12pm. The Junior Fair dairy and horse shows begin at 9 am. The 25th annual Dairy Products Auction begins at noon. The Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association Tractor & Truck Pull begins at 7 pm. Also at 7 pm and Lacy & The Attitude Band will also perform. The Junior Fair Square Dance will begin at 8 pm with music by Deep Down Country.

Saturday begins with open beef show at 8:30 am. The annual election of Fair Board Officers takes place from 10am-2pm. Registration for the Petal Tractor Pull begins at 2 pm with the competition beginning at 2pm. Flushed takes the stage at 4pm and Dustin Kildow performs at 7pm. The truck and tractor pull begins at 7pm. Another junior fair square dance with music by Deep Down Country begins at 8 pm.

Sunday begins with antique car show sponsored by Belmont Classic Cars at 10am until 3pm. The Belmont County 4-H Horse Committee Open Class Horse Show begins at 10 am. Morning Worship Service will be held at 11am. The Polled Hereford Show is a 1pm. The Power Wheels Derby followed by a Demolition Derby begins at 1pm. The 2021 Fair closes at 5pm.
