Yorkville
Yorkville is a village in Belmont and Jefferson counties. The village lies within two Metropolitan Statistical Areas; the Belmont County portion is part of the Wheeling, WV-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Jefferson County portion of the village is part of the Weirton-Steubenville, WV-OH Metropolitan Statistical Area.
A post office called Yorkville was established in 1867. Yorkville was originally a mining community. Michael “Mickey” Briglia (1929 – 2006) was a college baseball coach at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University). Briglia’s teams won the NCAA Division III World Series in 1978 and again in 1979.
John Konstantinos (1936 – 2013) was a football player, coach, and college athletics administrator . He served as the head football coach at Eastern Illinois University from 1975 to 1977, compiling a record of 9–21–2. Konstantinos was the athletic director at Cleveland State University from 1990 to 2002.
