Two golfers enjoying a day at the golf course

Celebrate Golfer’s Day at our Great Golf Courses!

April 10 is Golfers Day. There are two theories as to why it is celebrated on April 10. One is that April 10, 1916 is when the first professional golf tournament was held. Another theory is that the tubular steel golf club shaft was approved for championship play on this day in 1924. The modern game of golf originated in Scotland in the 1500s. You can celebrate this day at one of Belmont County’s three great golf courses.

Belmont Hills Country Club

The course at Belmont Hills is enhanced by the natural beauty of the pine rich Ohio hillside, and their challenging golf layout will leave long-lasting shot making memories. The rolling hills beckons players, whether beginners or pros, to “Tee it Up”. Golf lessons are available with General Manager and PGA Golf Professional Ron Baker or teaching director Butch Brunner. They also offer golf leagues, junior programs and host public golf events and tournaments.

Horseshoe Bend Golf Course

Re-opened for the season on April 1, 2021, the number one rule at Horseshoe Bend has always been “HAVE FUN”. Their goal is to provide the best golfing value in the Ohio Valley for all skill levels and budgets. They are located within a half hour of most localities, and the drive from any direction highlights the beautiful hills and valleys. To foster the next generation of golfers, Horseshoe Bend offers free green fess every Friday after 3 pm for all high school golfers and their coaches. See their website for details.

Clair-Mar Golf Course 54220 E Captina Hwy., Powhatan Point, Ohio, is a nine hole golf course that sits along the beautiful Captina Creek watershed and offers a fun and quick game of golf. The course opened in March and the Clubhouse opened April 1.
