Celebrate Mother’s Day in Belmont County, Ohio

Sunday May 9th is Mother’s Day. This day is a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds, and the influence of others in society. In appreciation for who they are and what they do, there are so many ways to celebrate this special day in Belmont County.

Flowers tend to be the traditional gift on this special day. Belmont County has many choices that will represent the beauty of the love given by a mother. Beginning on the western side of the County, in Barnesville, The Flower Gardens has many hanging baskets for Mother’s Day, as well as Mother’s Day arrangements for delivery or curbside pick-up. Call 740- 425-1939 to place an order. Burkhart Nursery near Barnesville is offering free delivery within a 10-mile radius. You can also schedule a curbside pickup by calling 740-425-1933. They are open Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Lendon Floral, just located right outside of St. Clairsville is officially ready for Mother’s Day from a variety of hanging baskets, porch planters, and annuals to vegetables, herbs, and succulents. Call 740-695-2204 for more information. Also, located in St. Clairsville is Holub’s Greenhouse. They have lots of fun planters and baskets starting at $25 that would make wonderful gifts. They are open Monday-Saturday 9-7 and Sun 12-5. Bud’s Bloomers is taking phone orders only for Mother’s Day deliveries. They will be available May 7 and 8 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and May 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please call 1-740-695-0163 during those hours to place your order. They will resume regular business hours on Tuesday, May 12.

Take your mom shopping during the first Second Saturday event in St. Clairsville on May 8 until 3 pm. Begin your day at 10:30am with yoga on the courthouse steps. Enjoy live music, food trucks, sidewalk sales, craft vendors, and more! Stick around for a 3 pm presentation by historian Dave Adair on the history of the railroad in Holloway at the Belmont County Heritage Museum next to the courthouse. In conjunction with Second Saturdays, The Ohio Valley Mall is having a Bring Your Doll to the Mall event on May 8 from 11am to 1 pm. Explore the Kruger Street Toy & Train Museum display next to Verizon Wireless. The Belmont County Salvation Army, the JB Green Team and Youth Services System will have make and take Mother’s Day activities at Center Court.

Support local businesses and check out M & C Boutique in Martins Ferry. They are offering a Succulent Bar at their new location, 23 S. 4th St. While supplies last, you can create a one-of-a-kind gift for mom ranging from $15 to $25. Grab a hot beverage and sweet treat at Belmont County’s newest coffee shop, Beeology Coffee & Bakery Company, located in Barnesville. They are offering a Mother’s Day Donut-Gram and are taking orders on their Facebook Page. Treat mom to something sweet at The Fat Apple, Flatiron Coffee Co., Kirke’s Homemade Ice Cream, Tina’s Sweet Celebrations, Unique Treats By Jacquie, and Yorkville Bakery.

Lastly, help mom ‘wine’ down and buy a bottle of Vino Di Piccin wine or better yet, take her there for a wine slushy!
