Swimming – Cool off at one of our lakes or pools. Belmont Lake at Barkcamp State Park offers a 700-foot free beach. Swimming is permitted in designated areas only.
While some of the county’s pools have not reopened this year, Allen Pool in St. Clairsville Memorial Park, Martins Ferry Park Pool, and Powhatan Point Park Pool are open for swimmers. Allen pool includes a corkscrew slide, diving board, concession stand, and plenty of grass for sunbathing and relaxation. The Martins Ferry Park Pool offers pool passes and pool party rental, as well as daily rates. The Powhatan Pool is a full size 150,000-gallon pool. Offering a 10′ deep end with two diving boards. Zion Retreat and RV Park in Flushing offers a swimming beach, aqua zip, sand volleyball, and playground area. Swimming at Noah’s Landing is much more than just swimming. There is a water and little round boats (Corcl) available. On the weekends, the aqua zip is open from 12-4 p.m. Meet Heather at the launching deck for a ride on the zip. You do not have to be a guest to have fun at Zion. Swimming is $3 per person daily and this includes the water trampoline and the Corcl rides. The 117-acre Belmont Lake at Barkcamp State Park offers kayak rental.
Canoeing and Kayaking – The 117-acre Belmont Lake at Barkcamp State Park allows both motorized and non-motorized boats. Seasonal boat tie-ups are available and there is a launch ramp. Boat rentals are available at the check-in station. Kayak rental is also available here.
Piedmont Lake is home to black crappie, bluegill, bullheads, channel catfish, flathead catfish, largemouth bass, muskellunge, redear sunfish, saugeye, smallmouth bass, white bass, white crappie, and yellow perch. The state record muskie was caught here. Explore the 2,270 acres of water by kayak, fishing boat or pontoon boat. Kayaks can be rented for up to four hours or an entire day, while fishing and pontoon boats can be rented for a few hours, a day or two or even a week.
Zion Retreat and RV Park’s 27-acre lake offers paid fishing and boat, paddle board, and kayak rental. They also have several small fishing ponds. You can also pay to fish the many ponds at Dickinson Cattle Co. in Barnesville.
Barnesville Memorial Park’s Rotary Park Lake features a fishing pier, boat dock and kayak launch.
Belmont County offers three great golf courses.
Golfing – Belmont County has three great golf courses. A bad day on the golf course is always better than a great day at work!
The golf course at Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville is enhanced by the natural beauty of the pine rich Ohio hillside. The rolling hills beckons players, whether beginners or pros, to “tee it up”.
Horseshoe Bend Golf Course in Armstrong Mills doesn’t require tee times and provides golfing for all skill levels and budgets.
Clair Mar Golf Course is a nine-hole golf course in Powhatan Point. It sits alongside the beautiful Captina Creek watershed and offers a fun, and quick game of golf. Visit our website for more information about golfing.
Horseback Riding – Barkcamp State Park offers seven bridle trails over a 22-mile system for riders with their own mounts. They also have a separate camping area for horses and trailers.
Peidmont Lake and Marina offers cabins, RV, and tent camping.
