Belmont County has a ton of restaurant options, but if you want real local flavor, follow our residents to these hometown favorites.

Annie K’s Restaurant, 777 E. Main St., Barnesville, 740-425-3456 (Closed Sunday).

Second-generation family owned, this casual restaurant features homemade food with daily specials. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu features entrees, sandwiches, sides, soup, salads, appetizers, desserts, and drinks. There is a large parking lot and event/bar space in the back.

Schlepp’s Family Restaurant, 6645 Belmont Morristown Rd., 740-782-1528 (off I-70, exit 208). Open Daily Tuesday-Sunday from 6 am to 10 pm. You’ll be treated like a local here. Local favorites include their dry rub ribs and chicken, homemade bread and Deb’s Mess (a delicious omelette stuffed with everything but the kitchen sink) . A menu can be found on their Facebook page (Schlepp’s Family Restaurant). Take out and catering is available.

The Pike 40 Restaurant & Bar, 41010 National Rd, Belmont, 740-782-001 (www.pike40.com).

Closed Sunday and Monday. Hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 11 am to 9 pm; Friday & Sat., 11 am-10 pm (Bar closes at 12 am).

A cool vibe, delicious daily dinner and drink specials, tempting appetizers (don’t pass on the pickle fries), and a dessert case that will make you drool, will have you coming back to The Pike 40. During the summer and fall you can sit outside and enjoy the chill patio and stage where live music is featured most weekends. Thursday nights during the summer they have a “Pike 40 Idol” singing competition. The popularity of the outdoor seating on the weekends and especially during scheduled live music, makes call ahead reservations a must.

Take a break and have a drink at The Pike 40 in Morristown.

Newellstown Diner, 145 W. Main St., St. Clairsville, 740-695-1364. Open Monday – Friday, 6 am to 2 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Newllstown is a small town diner (complete with 50’s diner look and shake machine) serving fresh made food for breakfast and lunch at a reasonable price.

Get the diner experience for breakfast and lunch at Newellstown Diner in downtown St. Clairsville.

Mehlman’s Cafeteria, 51800 National Rd. E., 740- 695-1000. Open Tuesday through Sunday, 10:30 am to 8:00 pm. Closed Mondays. Travelers and locals agree, Mehlman’s is worth the stop. Serving the Ohio Valley since 1961, Mehlman’s offers a variety of scratch made favorites. Because it is a cafeteria, you can get your dessert up front and eat it first!

Undo’s West, 51130 National Rd., St. Clairsville, 740-695-8888. Hours are Sunday, noon- 8 pm; Monday – Thursday, 4 – 9 pm; Friday – Saturday, 4 -10 pm. The sports bar is open Saturday and Sunday at noon.

Located in the Wingate by Wyndham in St. Clairsville, Ohio, Undo’s West restaurant features an aerial view of the Ohio Valley Mall. Friendly, yet elegant dining with an emphasis on Italian cuisine, marks the atmosphere of Undo’s West. After dinner you can stop in at The Sports Bar to catch a game or just enjoy the drink specials. The St. Clairsville location also features a large catering hall which can accommodate up to 350 people.

With several Ohio Valley locations, Undo’s is a local favorite for Italian food.

Gulla’s Lunch, 3073 Belmont St., Bellaire, 740-671-9666. Hours are 7 am to 9 pm Monday-Saturday. Closed Sunday. Family-owned since the”Gulla Dog” was created in 1929, Gulla’s continues to be a favorite of locals, former locals, and visitors. Gravy fries are another popular menu item. The menu offers more than hot dogs and french fries, with breakfast, lunch and dinner served. The menu is visible on their Facebook page (@gullaslunch).

Denny’s Blue Angel Bar & Grill, 3268 Belmont St., Bellaire. 740-676-4810. For hours visit www.dennyblueangel.com.

“Good food and friendly atmosphere” are just some of the reviews of the Blue Angel. Denny’s Blue Angel has been serving top quality food from their full sized menu for over 33 years. Serving up American fare – hot sandwiches, wings, sides, and more with cold drinks.

The Roosevelt, 3175 Union St., Bellaire, 740-676-9015. Hours are Monday, noon – 6 p.m. and Tuesday – Saturday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. Closed Sunday. This family owned restaurant serves homemade Italian dishes including fresh pasta. gnocchi, and meatball sandwiches.

The Roosevelt is an Italian restaurant in Bellaire known for fresh made pasta.

Sonny Boy’s Restaurant, 881 National Rd., Bridgeport, 740-635-9065. Open daily 6 am – 8 pm.

A local favorite for over 50 years, the iconic restaurant makes everything from scratch. Menu items include cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, meatballs and spaghetti, and pies. Sonny Boy’s is a popular place for breakfast.

Sonny Boy’s is known for good food at a reasonable price.

Central Grille, 3882 Central Ave., Shadyside, 740-676-7000. Their slogan is “Where good friends meet”. The menu (organized in a baseball theme) includes appetizers, entrees, slamwiches, paninis, and hoagies, soups, salads, a kid’s menu, wings, and sides. Hours are Monday-Friday, 11 am-2:30 am and Saturday, 12 p.m. – 2:30 am (full kitchen closes at 10 pm).

Central Grille in Shadyside is a great place for wings and drinks.

Van Dynes Family Restaurant, 56721 Ferry Landing Rd. Shadyside, 740-676-4777.

Home cooked favorites include breakfast, giant hamburgers, and homemade desserts. They even have a “challenge” to eat a two-pound burger and three pounds of french fries in 30 minutes!

Hours are Monday-Friday, 6 am to 7 pm; Saturday, 7 am to 2 pm and Sunday, 8 am to 2 pm.

Van Dynes Family Restaurant offers homemade, comfort food.

Shady Spot Tavern & Grill, 3826 Central Ave., Shadyside, 740-671-9054.

Hours are Monday-Thursday, 4-9:30 pm; Friday and Saturday, 4 pm to 2 am. Closed Sunday. People rave about the Spot burger,steaks,BBQ wings and ribs, homemade fries, and grilled chicken salad or club sandwich. Kid’s menu, fajitas, and a variety of salads are also served.

The Shady Spot Tavern & Grill is known for its hamburgers, homemade fries, steak, chicken, ribs, and salad.

Matt’s Tiger Pub, 3932 Central Ave., Shadyside, 740-676-8764. Matt’s Tiger Pub offers weekly specials, burgers, sandwiches, salads, baskets, wings, and sides. A full menu is offered daily from 10 am – 5:30 pm. A bar and scheduled entertainment add to the ambiance of this local hang out. The Tiger pub offers outdoor dining and drinking with an outdoor fire pit. Internet jukebox, pool and foosball tables, Keno lottery, and an ATM are also offered.

Established in 1991, the Tiber Pub is a local favorite for food, drinks, and entertainment.
