September is the Month for Car Shows in Belmont County

This photo was taken at a car show in Morristown last year. Car shows are very popular in the Ohio Valley. This September there are four right here in Belmont County.

Even though I grew up attending car shows, I have to admit that their continued (and possibly growing) popularity never ceases to amaze me! If you love car and bike shows as much as I do, Belmont County has you covered in September with not one, but fivedifferent car shows!

The 170th Annual Belmont County Fair (see previous blog for more info) will feature a car show on Sunday, Sept. 8 sponsored by Belmont Classic Cars. Registration is from 9-11 a.m. and awards will be presented at 3 p.m. Entry fee is $10 and includes one fair admission. Belmont Classic Cars is a car dealership that sells vintage cars, located at 41834 Stenger Rd., Belmont, OH 43718. How cool is that? The 3rd Annual Belmont County Schools Staying Clean Car and Bike Show Festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14 in the parking lot of the Ohio Valley Mall, 67800 Mall Ring Rd., St. Clarisville, OH 43950. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and the show is from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Judging will take place at 1:30 p.m. There will be music, food vendors, and a 50/50 drawing. Registration is $10 per vehicle. Registration is free for all student Drug Free Club members. Trophies will be awarded in multiple categories by independent judges. Two trophies will be awarded by the students in the club. Dash plaques will be given to the first 250 registrants. Free t-shirts will be given to the first 150 Student Drug Free Club Members. All proceeds benefit the Belmont County High Schools Drug Free Clubs to continue expanding this drug use prevention program for students in Belmont County. The very next day, on Sunday, Sept. 15, you can check out the Second Annual Jungle Jam Car Show at Schuler Park in Flushing, Ohio from 12-3:30 p.m. and experience unique cars, trucks, and bikes. There will be trophies awarded, dash plaques, raffles, live music, vendors, and concessions! For more information call 740-510-5708.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Friends of Barkcamp will have their 2nd Annual Car Show (rain date Sept. 22) at the beach area of Barkcamp State Park., 65330 Barkcamp Rd., Belmont, OH 43718. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and judging and trophy presentation will take place at 4 p.m. The first 100 cars will receive a dash plaque. Trophies will include Best of Show, Camper’s Choice, and the top 25. Registration is $10. Their will be a DJ., food and drinks, door prizes, and 50/50 raffle; For more information contact Jackie Speicher at 740-310-1166 or Jackie McCormick at 740-839-9183. All proceeds benefit playground improvements in the park.

On Sunday, Sept. 29 during the 56th Annual Barnesville Pumpkin Festival (Sept. 26-29), is the Antique and Classic Car Show. Held at the Barnesville High School campus, it is one of the largest car shows in the area and pulls in hundreds of vehicles from Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. If you like cars, you won’t want to miss this popular event. Registration is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, with the show running until approximately 4 p.m. Registration fee is $15 on the day of the show and pre-registration is $10.

Dash plaques and small pumpkin trophies will be given to the first 300 cars registered. The awards will be to the top 75 overall entries and also a “Best of Show” trophy. A special “Jackie Huntsman Memorial Trophy” will be given by his family. Judging will be done by the Car Show Committee at approximately 4:30 p.m.
