Overview
Founded in 1993 by the late Dr. John S. Mattox and his wife to preserve the past for future generations. The museum exhibits portray what is known about slavery and the Underground Railroad in Ohio, and presents an understanding of the culture in the 1800s. Much of the information and artifacts were gathered by Mattox from local sources.
Learn about how the Ohio Valley was active in the Underground Railroad during the 19th century, and the important role Quaker settlers had as abolitionists.
